A Matter Of Time
Oftentimes I wonder if a writer is drawn to write because of that which they have experienced and seen, or if indeed they are drawn to write because of that which they as yet have never seen nor experienced; or is it that a writer is drawn to write because they can see that which cannot be seen and have an innate need to let such be known without fear of being ridiculed. Whichever it may be the ability of a writer to see with only their mind and to transmit and translate those thoughts into words and images which then capture the imagination of another is a magical and most precious craft; and perhaps one of the oldest known to mankind.
ESP or Extra Sensory Perception is something that happens and has happened to many writers, even if at the time of writing they are or were unaware of it. Of course the very event of writing something and then having it happen leads to even further questions; has it happened because one has written it and planted the seed of an idea in the minds of others, or was it already in line to happen and the writer has foreseen such and recorded it…?
The writers to whom such has happened can be readily rattled off in a hefty list, however those which come most readily to mind are Jules Verne, H.G. Wells, George Orwell and Nostradamus. Everything they have written either has come, is coming, and/or no doubt will come to pass as time unfolds.
’A Matter Of Time’ is one such tale and needless to say I was more than a little rattled by certain aspects of this one which did indeed come to pass. Running to 8,000 words ‘A Matter Of Time’ completes the ninety-thousand word target for the Telling Tales series; 38 Telling Tales in 38 days, 93,000 words…
