The Telling Tale of Telling Tale… number thirty-three… ?
I love numerology and have studied and utilised such in my life since the age of eleven. I find, without even thinking, my mind automatically looks at words and letters and attributes a numerological value to them. When I meet someone and they give me their name, oftentimes, particularly if they seem of dubious character, I sum up their personality based on the numerological value of their name within the first few minutes of meeting them.
When I sat to write Telling Tale Number 33, the very first thought I had was ‘The Alchemist’. Number 33 in numerology is number of the alchemist; fickle, creative, expansive, artful, abstract, keeper of the knowledge of the source of communications and the manifestation of all of these things… I knew Tale number 33 was going to be a problem child, even before I began…
‘The Message’ is 5054 words in length and is a tale of intrigue. It is not appropriate in its present state as a Telling Tale. My editor has informed me this story needs either; a) slimming down to a short, short tale, or b) full expansion into a novel. The plot is sound, the writing is good and the characters – well – they are the story! Interesting… I am informed it leaves one hungry for more and could be easily developed into both a novel and film… I am as yet undecided and for now have placed it in a new and separate file entitled… NOVELS, NOVELETTES & NOVELLAS.
Perhaps, just perhaps I can turn this little lead nugget into a pot of gold!
