Just as it is important for an artist to put their works on the wall so they can see what they have accomplished in energy spent painting, a writer should always track their output. A writing log is a good way to do this and takes but a few minutes to take note at the end of each day. It is a good way to ensure one maintains writing momentum and to keep track of stories (or chapters).
I commenced writing this Telling Tales series on January 2nd 2013 and am pleased to note I have notched up 31,000+ words for January. Well ahead of target and tracking along nicely. I hope I can keep this pace up.
Story number 16 for 2013 and the first Tale for February is entitled ‘Mission Accomplie’. It is set in the Balkans, is 3300 words in length and was a bit of a task to compose. This one took two days to get right, but I do so love to write twists and turns. It has the thumbs up from my ed. in chief ( now that I’ve fixed the ending!), so well worth the time – and headache! UGH.
P.S. Mission Accomplie is such an apt title at this time… as I have just learned that Telling Tales, Volume 1 is complete, formatted and all but ready for printing. Mid February is the magic time… when I know – so too will you!
Mission Accomplie features in Telling Tales Volume 3!
