The topic of today’s story is an issue which has compelled me to speak out often in many forms, usually to my own detriment! Life is an absolute bitch at times and I have learned from experience that the more one is forced into keeping stum about anything, the more critical it generally is that one should speak louder and more often! Thus, the mining industry and those who relish in its treasures come under direct scrutiny in this Telling Tale. Originally inspired by the song ‘Black Gold’ by ‘The Rockin’ Berries’ and initially entitled the same, this 10 page short story has a science fiction and futuristic feel to it – which I have been informed – leaves one unsettled, to say the least.
3631 words in length, ‘Not On My Watch’ is possibly, from my own vista, the most satisfying tale I have told so far…! The final tale for January as tomorrow, January 31st is February Eve… and I shall be somewhat – preoccupied – with other things! 😉
